Alessio Di Rubbo, Italian localization specialist
Translator and localization specialist, native Italian, based in Vienna. I work from German and English into Italian, and into Italian only, since 2015.
What I do
Three services, one target language.
- Italian localization: shops, websites, campaigns, newsletters and interfaces, with a glossary and a style guide.
- Italian SEO and GEO: visibility on Google and in the answers AI assistants give.
- Italian Linguistic QA: independent review of Italian that already exists, with findings documented by severity.
Agencies can offer all three under their own name, white-label.
How I work
The assessment method is public: six error categories, three severity levels, and a report that gives the text fragment, the category, the severity and the proposed fix for every finding. Where a choice is legitimate, a register or an approach to gendered wording, I assess how consistently it is applied rather than the choice itself. The full method, with its limits stated, is in the audit methodology (in Italian).
Every localization engagement ends with a glossary and a style guide that stay yours, in an open format. That is the part that keeps working after handover: without a glossary, the third person to touch the site reintroduces the variants we had just removed.
Education and background
MA in Applied Linguistics, University of Vienna.
Since 2015 I have worked independently on marketing, e-commerce and technical content: NDAs, contracts, manuals, software documentation, UX copy. Since 2016 I have translated from German into Italian for Translated, where I also evaluate the output of machine translation and of language models, including adaptive machine translation on the ModernMT project and RLHF and SFT data for translation models in production. Since 2020 I have been lead translator for Italian at Tolq. Since March 2025 I have run the Italian localization of Kaufland e-commerce, from the marketplace launch in Italy to the internal style guide and terminology glossary.
Before that: foreign language correspondent at RSM Ugo Fichtner in Milan, native advertising and investment consulting at GroupM and MediaCom (WPP) in Vienna, and three years teaching Italian at the Vienna Volkshochschulen.
Clients and brands
Direct client: Kaufland e-commerce.
Brands I have worked on through agencies: Stellantis (formerly FCA), MediaMarktSaturn, Sixt SE, DriveNow, Suva; and, for Translated and Tolq, Amazon, NVIDIA, Swarovski, Manor AG.
The distinction matters and I keep it explicit: in the second group the contract is with the agency, not with the brand.
